Dentures or false teeth are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth, and which are supported by surrounding soft and hard tissues of the mouth. Regular or normal dentures are removable, however there are many different denture designs, some which rely on bonding or clasping onto teeth or dental implants. There are two main categories of dentures, depending on whether they are used to replace missing teeth on the lower jaw or the upper jaw.
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available - complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.
The cost of dentures varies widely, because there are so many types of dentures available today. Earlier the cost of dentures was high because they were covered with gold or silver and these were not affordable dentures for the most people. Precious metals are still used on dentures today. Today flexible dentures and plastic dentures are common. There are a variety of plastics, porcelains and acrylics that make up the full dentures, dental partials, and permanent dentures. The cost of dentures depends upon the quality and finish of the denture, better the quality, the higher the cost of dentures.
